Janice K. Johnson Hunter
Janice Hunter is the Pro Bono Support Attorney for Public Benefits at the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center. In this role, she mentors pro bono attorneys representing clients through the Advocacy & Justice Clinic, particularly in Social Security disability benefits matters.
Janice has dedicated her career to public interest law. Prior to joining the Pro Bono Center, Janice worked as a Senior Staff Attorney with Neighborhood Legal Services Program of the District of Columbia. She previously worked with National Disability Rights Network as Deputy Executive Director for Legal Services and General Counsel, where she led the legal unit providing training and technical assistance to the nationwide network of protection and advocacy programs. In addition, Janice served as the Deputy Director of Legal Work at Disability Rights Maryland, focusing on education rights of children with disabilities and other disability rights initiatives. Earlier in her career, Janice practiced public benefits law as a Supervising Attorney with Maryland Legal Aid.
Janice holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from American University and a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law.
